10 Tips For Not Smoking Anymore

For most smokers, to stop smoking cigarettes is very difficult. It is often failed although they have tried several times. The key point for smokers to be succeeded in quitting smoking depends on how much they want to stop. Smokers have to believe that our (the human) spirit is amazingly strong, so if they really want to stop, they will be able to. But once more, it is not that easy. Therefore, in this opportunity we try to give these 10 simple tips for not smoking anymore.

Here are the following 10 tips for not smoking anymore that have been suggested and help some people quit:

  • Eat and drink sensibly and healthfully, and get plenty of sleep.
  • Tell your friends, family, and people you work with that you have stopped. Tell those who also smoke that you think it would be good for them to stop with you so that you can support each other since it is a lot easier if smoker who have been unsuccessful in quitting smoking, discuss this problem with the people they live and work with or socialize with. It is much more difficult and may be “impossible” to do it alone when other people around them still continue to smoke.
  • Make a date and stick to it. Don’t cut down, it doesn’t work. Just stop completely.
  • Be aware of how you might feel when you stop smoking, and keep strong. Exercise every day. This is relaxing, and it destresses you and makes you feel generally and more emotionally strong and in control of your feelings.
  • Keep busy and throw away your cigarettes, lighters, and ashtrays.
  • If you used to smoke when you went to pubs or clubs or with certain people, stay away from these danger spots, however antisocial you feel. Remember, however awful it feels at the time, you will be more likely to give up if you remove yourself from the places where you used to smoke.
  • Take one day at a time.
  • If someone offers you a cigarette, just say no. Smokers (like people who can’t control their eating habits) are scared and envious about their friends or acquaintances who seriously try to stop. Seeing you work hard doing something useful, healthy, difficult, and brave makes them feel inferior and guilty.
  • Do it for yourself—you are the one person who has the most to gain.
  • Remember, stopping smoking is more important than anything else you can do for yourself to improve your health and reduce your risks of having a heart attack, a stroke, or lung cancer. Your health will improve from the day you stop.
