Reduce The Risk of Heart Attack

There are things existed to negatively influence people’s health for suffering heart attack. I believe we all surely want to avoid heart attack since it can cause death to us. There are also many things we can do to reduce the risk of heart attack. Check these following things in reducing the risk and avoiding heart attack in your life:

  • Quitting smoking
Fewer adults smoke due to anti-smoking publicity, smoking clinics, help-lines and medications (although smoking among children, teenagers, and the 20-year-old, particularly females, may be increasing). It is also likely that fewer people will smoke and be affected by passive smoking when smoking is banned in public places.
  • Diet
Most people accept that they will live longer if they are slim, active and have a good, low-fat, low-salt, low-sugar diet.
  • Drugs
The medications prescribed for patients with coronary heart disease – aspirin (which reduces the stickiness of the blood), beta blockers (which lower the blood pressure and the heart rate), statins (which lower the cholesterol level but have other useful effects, too), drugs that work on the kidneys and are good for the heart and the arteries (angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitors or ACE inhibitors) – are the drugs that, together, have made a big impact in prolonging life in patients who have coronary heart disease.
  • Exercise and weight
Healthy eating and exercise are beneficial. Thinner people live longer and are more likely to survive longer after a heart attack.
  • High blood pressure, high cholesterol level, and diabetes
High blood pressure, and high cholesterol levels and diabetes, are treated better and more aggressively in everyone, particularly those with coronary heart disease. These measures are helpful in slowing the progress of coronary heart disease.
  • Identifying people at high risk
This is difficult, but there are tests that can show which people are at high risk of having a heart attack. People who can exercise on a treadmill or cycle for at least 10 minutes, without getting angina, or becoming unduly breathless, and whose blood pressure increases normally, and who do not get abnormal changes in the electrical recording of their heart, or abnormal heart rhythms during the exercise (stress) test, are at relatively low risk for further problems after a heart attack. However, these “low-risk” individuals also need to adopt a healthy lifestyle.

Now, you know the risk of heart attack and how to reduce it. After reading the things above, you have to realize that it is not easy to always be health, and once you are getting sick you will understand how precious healthy is. So, you have to not only reading the article, but also have to apply it in your daily life.
